Let's remember America for good things

Let's remember America for good things.
Let's relish this footage of the original performance of Martha Graham's Appalachian Spring in the Library of Congress in 1944. Let's enjoy Aaron Copland's majestic score. Let's also remember also that the set for this piece was created by Isamu Noguchi, an American artist of Japanese heritage, at a time when the United States was at war with his ancestral homeland.
Whatever we may think of its president elect, let's remember America's contribution to the performing arts (not least to dance), to science and technology, research and teaching and to civilization generally. America is still a great country. It remains a good friend.
